COVID-19 Update logo.png

According to the US CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL “There is no evidence that the virus which causes COVID-19 can be spread through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g. with chlorine or bromine) of pools and hot tubs should inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.”

Mursatt recommends pool and hot tub owners diligently follow proper maintenance practices. Most of these reminders are the generally accepted practices pool & hot tub owners will be familiar with. The following information reflects the guidance that has been provided by sources such as CDC and Health Canada in response to questions regarding the COVID-19 virus relative to residential pools & hot tubs.

  • DO - Ensure that your pool or hot tub continuously maintains a sanitizer residual (Free Available Chlorine or Bromine) with a registered sanitizer.

  • DO - Test sanitizer daily/before pool or hot tub use.

  • DO – Check water balance parameters weekly using test strips. Contact your Mursatt dealer for professional water testing service.

  • DO - Follow all proper label directions for proper use and safe handling.

  • DO - Operate your pool pump at least 8-12 hours per day (24 hours/day recommended) to assure appropriate circulation and filtration.

  • DO - Disinfect surfaces around the Pool or Hot Tub with a disinfectant hard surface cleaner to prevent transmission of the virus through touching of contaminated surfaces.

  • DO NOT - swim if you show symptoms of being sick. Follow guidance by CDC, Health Canada, Public Health Officials and/ or Medical Provider.
